Graduate Architect


To work on architectural projects as directed by the Senior Architect including design, contract documentation and some contract administration duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work on architectural projects within the Design office including client liaison, design, contract documentation and some contract administration.
  • Assist the Manager in the day to day operations of the Design office.
  • Take responsibility for time management of assigned jobs. Keep an accurate daily record of the time spent on each assigned job.
  • Attend office meetings and provide reports to the Manager on a regular basis regarding the progress of individual projects under their responsibility.
  • Act at all times to ensure the safety of yourself, other staff, clients and visitors.
  • Develop an awareness of, and follow all current Occupational Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Provide advice to supervisors and managers about any workplace hazards, and to implement any actions to reduce those hazards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparing project documentation, including sketches and scale drawings, and integrating structural, mechanical and aesthetic elements in final designs.
  • Responsible to develop approaches to achieving specified objectives including the investigation of many variables under the direction of a Project Architect/Principle Architect.
  • Performs architectural assignments after receiving general instructions and project scope from the Project Architect/Principle Architect.
  • Works directly with Project Architect/Principle Architect to select and recommend procedures.
  • Works directly with the Principle Architect and/or client in developing the project brief and deliverable.
  • Develops preliminary designs, drawings, reports and documents.
  • Must understand all codes and be able to produce a complete set of construction documents including written specifications under the direction of a Project Architect/Principle Architect.
  • Under the direction of a Project Architect coordinate with outside consultants including engineers, surveyors, Quantity surveyors,etc.
  • Under the direction of the Project Architect coordinates construction administration with construction managers/administrators and reviews shop drawings.
  • Managers and works inside the BIM model facilitating procedural improvements, standardisation and policy direction.
  • Under the direction of the Project Architect delivers the projects in accordance with the Australian standards, codes and company policy.
  • May assist Project Architects with preparation of cost and quality estimates.
  • May be requested to attend networking functions, and other industry function as a member of the LALA team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Selection Criteria

  • Applicants should be graduate architects with some professional experience.
  • Have experience in the areas of contract documentation.
  • Have a technical knowledge of architectural project delivery.
  • Demonstrable skills in the areas of design, presentation and technical skills.
  • Proficiency in Revit/BIM, Dynamo, AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max and Rhino.
  • Advanced skills in Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Computer literacy using Microsoft Office products and presentation software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.
  • Current driver’s licence. (Preferable)
