The Heritage Post Office was built in 1895 and was operated by Australia Post until 2013. The refurbishment of the Heriatge building and the construction of the new infill building in the old load dock area is expected to be complete June 2016. The new building has a cafe on the ground floor and 6 one bed room apartments over the other 3 floors. The new entry off Erskinville Road provides a new address and disabed access. The design of the new infill building responses to the modulation of the original builidng. The horizontial stone banding, base plinth and parapet lines all define the grid on the old building. The steel facade grid reflects the grid paterning while The terracotta battens are a reference to the brick colour and material.
